Are you tired of spending so much on your Utility Bills?
Unpredictable Home Temperatures :
In many homes, keeping temperatures consistent can be an ongoing battle. Fluctuations in weather patterns, poor insulation, or outdated HVAC systems are just a few reasons why maintaining a comfortable temperature indoors can feel like a never-ending challenge.
These uncontrollable temperature swings not only impact the residents' comfort but also lead to increased energy consumption and higher utility bills. Finding lasting solutions, such as upgrading to energy-efficient appliances, improving insulation, or investing in smart thermostats, can help regain control over indoor temperatures and create a more comfortable living environment year-round.
At Energy Management Solutions, we are dedicated to helping you maximize energy efficiency in your home. Our FREE Home Energy Audit is designed to provide you with valuable insights into your energy usage and offer personalized recommendations to help you lower your utility bills and reduce your carbon footprint. New Jersey Homeowners can also have a Home Energy Audit at a fee, call to find out more.
Below is what to expect during the Free NYS Home Energy Audit :
Initial Inspection: The auditor examines key areas such as insulation, windows, doors, heating and cooling systems, appliances, and lighting to determine how energy is being utilized in the home. Other common areas to check would be overhangs, garages, the basement, and crawlspaces.
Thermal Imaging: Infrared cameras are often used to identify temperature differences in walls, ceilings, and floors, indicating potential insulation gaps or air leaks.
Ductwork Inspection: Inspecting ducts for leaks and proper insulation ensures that heated or cooled air is efficiently distributed throughout the home.
Basement Rim Joist: The basement rim joist is a common pain point in many homes. People often report draftiness near their walls and by the perimeter of their floor, and in a lot of cases a poorly air sealed rim joist is the reason why! We will check the air sealing of this area.
Floor Plans: The auditor will use laser measuring devices to properly measure the different areas within your home so we can give you an exact quote for any proposed measures that could be installed!
EMPOWER+ Audits Include these extra steps :
Blower Door Test: This test evaluates the air tightness of the home by using a special fan to depressurize the space, revealing areas where air may be leaking in or out. This also gives us insight into the pre and post installation energy efficiency of the home. It can be added to a Basic Audit for a fee.
Appliance Evaluation: Also known as the CAZ Test, Combustion Appliance Zone Test. The auditor may check the efficiency of appliances such as refrigerators, water heaters, and HVAC systems to determine if they are running optimally.
Post Audit Procedure :
Report and Recommendations: After the audit, a detailed obligation-free report is provided to the homeowner, outlining findings and suggesting energy-saving improvements such as air sealing, insulation upgrades, or HVAC system replacements. There will also be an Energy Model of the current energy usage of the home versus the potential decreased energy usage of the home.
Incentives and Rebates: NYS offers various incentives and rebates for implementing energy-saving measures identified during the audit, making it easier and more affordable for homeowners to make upgrades. Ask us about the Comfort Home Program, EMPOWER+ (for lower income households), Orange & Rockland Weatherization Rebates, as well as Con Edison Clean Heat and Weatherization Rebates!
