Insulation Installation Contractor

Rising energy costs and concerns over climate change have ushered in a new era of awareness for the need  to conserve energy. One of the main ways to improve your home’s energy performance is by installing proper insulation. We can install various types of insulation such as Cellulose, Fiberglass, Rock Wool, and Spray Foam. Inquire about which type is best for you and your home by scheduling an audit!

Proper insulation is key to reducing heating and cooling costs while improving the overall comfort in the home. Heat flows from warmer to cooler areas, this means that during winter, your heated living spaces will lose heat to adjacent garages, basements, attics, and outside. During the summer, the heat flows from outside into the home increasing the overall temperature. If your home is already insulated, we also handle Heat Pump Installation as well! Do not miss out on the many Rebate Opportunities currently available to you!

Types of Insulation

Fiberglass Insulation Installation

Fiberglass Insulation

Fiberglass is the most common type of insulation we find while conducting our Home Audits. A majority of the time, insulation in the attic is deteriorated due to the lack of air sealing. It is essential to air seal the attic properly prior to installing any new insulation, this will dramatically reduce drafts throughout the home and prolong the life expectancy of the insulation. As fiberglass deteriorates over time it becomes less and less effective causing rooms and other areas of the home to become drafty and have indifferent temperatures.

To maintain comfort, the heat lost in the winter must be replaced by your heating system and the heat gained in the summer must be removed by your cooling system. Properly insulating your home will decrease this heat flow by providing an effective resistance to the flow of heat.

Cellulose Insulation

Cellulose Insulation

Blown in insulation is our most common thermal application that we offer. EMS typically recommends R-60 (~18 inches) of cellulose insulation to blanket the floor of the attic or unconditioned spaces after a proper air seal. Cellulose acts as a rodent repellent and an excellent thermal barrier. In cases where storage is needed in the attic, we will install plywood to the floor joists and insulate the area with cellulose under the floor boards.

One of the primary goals homeowners are looking to achieve by insulating their home is improved comfort throughout. We strive to offer a consistent climate throughout the house. There are many different insulation strategies that can be applied, however every home is different, this is why we feel the home energy assessment is critical in determining what the most effective retrofit will be.

Rock Wool Insulation

Rock Wool Insulation

Rock wool is another form of insulation which is both water resistant and fire proof. This insulation type is typically installed around chimneys to act as a fire stop. It is critical to not install non fire-rated insulation materials near chimneys, flues, etc.

These bats of wool typically last many decades and has a higher r-value than traditional fiberglass insulation. The application is becoming more and more practical in new construction to achieve the R-Value necessary to be code compliant.
